OGL celebrates its 20th anniversary!

By Hannah Appiah-Madson and Dan Distel.

Two decades ago, the Ocean Genome Legacy (OGL) embarked on an ambitious mission to realize the vision of its founder, Donald G. Comb, to advance knowledge and protect the marine environment by preserving, cataloging, and sharing the genetic diversity of the ocean. Now, with the enthusiastic backing of many terrific staff members, colleagues, students, friends, and supporters, that vision has become a reality.

In September, OGL gathered at the Northeastern University Marine Science Center with friends and supporters, old and new, for a barbeque party to give thanks and celebrate the kickoff of OGL’s 20th anniversary year. To help mark this milestone, we’d like to share our new online magazine, which highlights some of our accomplishments. We also encourage you to follow OGL on Instagram, X, and Facebook, [CB2] where we’ll share more of our history over the coming months!
