GIVE TO OGL

There are three ways to give:

1. Support OGL’s day-to-day operations

2. Train the next generation of ocean defenders

3. Help ensure OGL’s future

THE OGL FUND

Support OGL’s day-to-day operations

Ocean Genome Legacy is a biorepository dedicated to creating a global biobank housing the DNA blueprints (genomes) of a broad cross-section of marine species. Our aim is to preserve and provide access to this global genomic legacy, to support understanding, and protection of our planet’s greatest ecosystem.

Don Comb Research Co-op Fund

train the next generation of ocean defenders

Established in his memory, the Don Comb Research Co-op Fund at the Ocean Genome Legacy (OGL) Center provides undergraduate students with real-world research experience, from forming research questions and designing experiments, to conducting lab work, analyzing data, and presenting results. The OGL program gives students an extraordinary and highly challenging educational experience, including the opportunity to contribute as a co-author to peer-reviewed scientific publications, an achievement few undergraduates can claim. It is a fitting tribute to Don Comb, a man with a passion for science and the sea, and a commitment to inspiring young scientists to help create a better world. Please join us in helping to keep his commitment alive by making a gift today.

THE OGL ENDOWED FUND

Ensure OGL’s Future

The endowed fund will allow Ocean Genome Legacy to protect our ocean’s biodiversity in perpetuity.  Located within the Marine Science Center, OGL is dedicated to creating a global biobank housing the DNA blueprints (genomes) of a broad cross-section of marine species.

At OGL we will extract DNA from your samples, PCR-amplify the DNA barcode region (cytochrome oxidase I gene; COI), sequence the PCR products, and identify the results using the FDA References Standard Sequence Library for seafood identification. All laboratory tests are conducted blind and results are confidential. OGL will issue a simple report based on US FDA protocols and US FDA-acceptable market names.
